I was really shocked actually... I had thought maybe a credit card might squeak by just because the company never finds out...but they just officially declared to me in a letter that it will stay open ... I'm also surprised they didn't change the interest rate on it or anything. Its not the best interest rate.. I think its like 15 or 17 percent but I think that's better than a post bankruptcy interest rate...and definately better than my 30% interest rates from chase.

      amy, that's great!

i didn't get any letter informing me that my cc's were closed. it's just that they disappeared from online access, so i called and they told me over the phone that it was closed. they said something about their bk department and gave me the phone number, but basically they said i'd have to wait for discharge.

does that mean that there is a possibility that they would reinstate the card after my discharge??

oh, but i did! i had 3 with BofA, total credit limit was over $30,000, all three balances were $0, i did use them a while back (up to a few months before filing), always making payments on time, never carried a balance unless i had 0% interest.

          so amy, what's your secret???

i'd love to see the letter, maybe it would shed some light on how they reach their decisions... but be sure to redact any personally identifiable info, you never know who is watching...

i still wouldnt use any card till after discharge. i think my cap one cc mentioned previously is only on hold, they also lowered my limit to $500 from $11k, but i always paid that card ontime and fully paid off an $10K bal a few years ago when i got a bonus at work so maybe i am in good standing with them. at least i can still log into my acct online. all my other cards except this cap one acct and a pep boys card have locked me out of being able to log in online as soon as i filed. same with calling in, if enter my acct # they say no acct found.
