Our last payment to creditors was in January. Had planned to file in June but "life" happened. Hopefully, we will have the entire retainer and filing fee to our attorney and file by August 1. That is the plan so that makes 7 months total.
It's funny you mention the boat load of money to be had once you stop paying but since we were robbing Peter to pay Paul, we don't have the boat load of cash I thought we would have once we stopped the payments. It has taken us these past six months to save about $1000 and we still need another $500 to file. Makes me sad and mad (at myself) that we got into this situation and even once the consumer debt is gone, we will still not be completely out of the woods financially. I truly do hope Bk7 is our fresh start.
