will new employer know i've filed?

If I don't tell my new employer that I have filed bankruptcy will they find out? I haven't filed yet and have already started working. I'm just curious if they would ever find out.

Also, I know I can meet with my lawyer after 3pm and on saturdays. My question is how many days would I HAVE to take off work?

I'm think 341 meeting and re-affirm hearing for the house?

I just hate asking for time off... especially since i'm with a great employer now.

1st why would you tell your employer that you filed BK? Just not understanding that, if you are already hired. Some employers do a credit check, before they hire you. Never heard of them doing a credit check after your hired. However once you file it will be Public Records for about 10 years (Chapter 7). You will have to attend your 341 Meeting in person, once your date is set, you should inform your employer ASAP. Now the re-affirm hearing why isn't your lawyer approving your agreement for you? Only Pro Se filers have to go before the judge to get the agreement approve unless your lawyer doesn't feel like it is in your best thing for you. If your lawyer doesn't sign it and you end up in court, your lawyer can file a motion so you can appear by phone. You must do this in advance.

If they pull your credit report as part of the process then yes they'll know.

However remember bankruptcy cannot alone get you fired. Though in some industries if it prevents you from being bonded and that's required you could lose a job

Do a search on this forum and as recommended to new posters in the forum rules. This subject has been discussed numerous times. The only way your employer will find out if you filed is if it appears in your local paper and they see it (many newspapers publish BK filings weekly as it is public information), someone tells them that knows you filed or if you tell them yourself or are overhead talking about it. In plain words...do not discuss it at work with anyone and avoid talking on the phone about it and do not talk to your attorney at work.

You will need to take a day off to go to your 341 unless you work close to the courthouse.

Some DOD security clearance procedures require a credit report to be done. I work for an aerospace firm and at my level, i only need criminal background check, but the next level requires full credit report
