    341 meeting-what to bring...

    Hi everyone,

I want to once again thank everyone on here for helping me prepare for my chapter 7 bk. I was able to file on 10/03/05 and my 341 meeting is now scheduled for 11/09/05. I must say I'm not looking forward to it. But I am definitley going to be as prepared as possible for the meeting.

I know I've read on here there are quite a few different things to bring to the meeting that the trustee may want... like the last two years of tax returns, last six months bank statements, etc., but is there a list somewhere that states everything that you should bring to the meeting? Even though I'm about a month away from the meeting, I like to prepare early! lol Helps calm the nerves and ease the stress....

10/03/2005 Filed chapter 7 bankruptcy with the western district in washington state!
10/10/2005 Received notification in the mail that my 341 is scheduled for 11/09/2005 with instructions to bring SS Card and ID
11/09/2005 Successful 341! Trustee proclaims NO ASSET DISTRIBUTION!!! OH YEAH!

craigerzz, I really think it depends on what state, or even county you're in. I was told only to bring an ss card, driver license, appraisal of property (or market value), and only a bank statement showing the amount in my bank account as to the day of filing. Also, our most recent tax return. That's it. You might want to check with your county. I have read about people bringing more just in case they're asked for it, but to never offer anything UNLESS it's asked for. Good luck.

Ah yes, I've heard about not offering anything unless it's asked for. That sounds like good advice to me. I just don't want to have to go back for another 341 as I live about 400 miles away from the courthouse!

I would load it all up, then, anything you can think of that they might need, and keep it in your trunk, just in case ...

I took couple current pay stubs, 2 years worth of tax refunds, 3 months of bank statements, proof of insurance, dl, ss card, any titles etc. you may have, a copy of the petition, & a lot of patience.
DO NOT VOLUNTEER ANYTHING, answer the questions to the best of your ability. Have a little more patience.
          Good luck, keep us posted.
I'll be watching, you may never know when or how, but I'll be there. I am there now....

Thanks sunshine, I was wondering about titles to cars and such. I guess the secret is bring everything organized and be ready for anything. Do I need to make copies of all these forms, such as the title for my cars and all that?

Yes, copy, copy, copy. Do not ever take the only "copy" of a document. Have a file set up for the trustee of copies of all paperwork. I did see one couple that the court's file was missing paperwork and the attorney didn't have all his copies either, so the couple provided a duplicate of thier copy to the trustee, he was visibly and verbally pleased with their organization skills.
Again, only provide documentation and answers upon their inquiry.
Good luck. I would also (just me, this is good for time consumption and diversion tactics to keep you busy before the 341) have it soreted and grouped for easier reference you can purchase little divided folder organizers at walmart or local office supply place for very little.
You have to be accountable for everything, at this stage please don't assume everything is where it should be and that others do thier jobs. Everybody (wellllllllllll) makes mistakes.
