    Start saving after we file

We filed on 5/22/09 ch 7, we have some money in our checking account from our earned income, since we have nodebt to pay can we start a savings account? or do we have to wait till after the 341 or discharge.

I have a very small stock account that was exempted and want to put some more money in it but dont want to get in trouble with the courts.

I am only talking about a few hundred extra dollars

    thanks

It would be best to wait after your 341. Then it should be fine to add a few hundred $ to your account. However, do run it by your lawyer first to find out if there's anything that would trigger an issue with your trustee. It shouldn't matter, but trustees can sometimes be quite 'prickly' and think some illogical things. Always best to be certain beforehand.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

Truthfully you should wait after your discharge to start saving money in a saving account. Or having additonal funds in your checking account. Not to scare you but not every 341 meeting is a great experience. The UST might ask for additonal documents regarding your banking or just might have some questions about your income and expenses. Just start what I had to start LOL a mattress saving account. Keep cash in a place at your house, until you have been discharge, then you can deposit the money into your account. You don't want them to take anything from you.. during this process...
