weight of the world - coming off

The coolest thing happened yesterday. I got our gas bill (heating). Long story, but we were so incredibly far behind, we had a back-balance of almost $4K. The payment plan we were on was $350 per month. During the summer (small bills), we'd make some headway, but then during the winter (HUGE bills), we'd be right back again. That balance NEVER seemed to go down. In addition to all the other debt, that gas bill was just one more thing keeping me up at night.

Well I opened the bill yesterday, and it said "balance from last statement: $0.00" And all we owe at this point is a security deposit on our wiped-clean account!!! It just feels so good. I am so thankful for the chance to start over.

      WTG applecake!

It is nice to hear Good Things are happening. Guessing you live in the Northern part of US where gas bills are astronomical in the winter.

Hope you receive additional 'Good Vibes'.

I have never had a gas bill that high, but when I thought mine were getting too high I started using those small oil filled space heaters that looked like radiators. I put one in the living room and left it on most of the day and my heater kicked on a lot less and cut my gas bill. It didn't even really make my power bill go up much. Try some next year.

I had no idea until our last conversation with our attorney that we could bk utility bills. We are in Ohio and although our bill is no where near the balance on the OP's bill, it is large (to us). Close to $800. We missed a payment and now this month, they want about half the balance. I am so glad we can add the bill to our bk. I even called the gas company to find out how much our deposit will be (just $140) and they will spread it across three months. Works for me!!!
