    Medical Bill?

Ok... I totally forgot about this medical bill because I went to the doctor for it back in April. I have interesting insurance where there is a 1500 yearly deductible and then after that 1500 they pay for everything. Also, I have an HSA account that has about 560 bucks in it right now.

So, I got a medical bill today for like 650 dollars from my doctor's visit from April. As the bill is technically part of my health insurance... do I have to amend my petition to include it? Can I just pay it with my HSA money? Do I have to just let it ride until I'm discharged?

Did you include your HSA Account in your Bankruptcy? Either way, I don't believe I would withdraw any amount from that HSA account until after discharge.

Discharge Could be a Long Time. INMHO, Date of Statement in June...fast forward to July. Mail a $20 check & make sure it will arrive before July Statement is dropped.

Come July, you will get another Statement. Hopefully, no tacky message on Statement saying Balance is Due in Full. If message, then call them & explain you filed bankruptcy & cannot pay in full.

Then, again, it maybe wise to call your Attorney for advise.

Yes, I believe he listed my HSA account on there. Do you think I could just get away with mailing them little payments till its discharged? What if my husband (who I am not filing with and who is not a US citizen) paid it for me from his own account?

I did send the question to my attorney... I dunno if he's like really busy or something but he's like been kinda distant since he told me he filed... I don't have my case number or a copy of my petition...

Amy, I would not rock the boat. Do not let your hubby pay anything as it could be misconstrued as preferential. Pay the $20 bucks a month and they will accept it. "Half of something is better than all of nothing". Don't move any monies except what you have to. 60 days goes by fast. 'Hub
If I knew it all, would I be here?? Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.

Gotchya... I tried to ask before what I was "allowed" to pay and how I'm allowed to spend my money ... didn't really get an answer. My attorney wrote me back yesterday and said "follow the order of the court that you will receive soon" ... do any of you know what that is or what it says? He basically just told me to read that.

OMG! Don't tell me Hub types faster than I do?? Well, I'll just chalk it up to arthritis.

Good answer Hub! as I agree $20 a mth. will not rock the boat & possibly satisfy the doctor.

            Amy:

google your Bankruptcy District in your State. See if they have a website where you can verify your BK case was filed. If not, you may want to get a Pacer Account which costs like $.08 a page.

A lot of BK District have free info tho.
