    creditor calls

    hey there!

just put down deposit on lawyer today but he is on vacation until next week my question is....

I give the creditors calling his phone number and i dont hear from them anymore? or will they continue to call all day long until we file?

    thanks for any input!

It depends. I had some that stopped immediately from the time I gave them the atty info, others called until we filed. It is a catch 22.

I would say 95 percent stopped. You should be able to just ignore the rest. ;)

We have just retained our attorney for a chapter 7. The day we retained him, I started telling the CA's that called that; we are filing a chapter 7, our attorney's name and phone number. Just telling them that information has stopped the calls. Our phone is so quiet now!

When I retained my 1st attorney a year ago, I sent all calls his way. All cc calls stopped within the 1st week, I think it was Chase that continued to call, so I called my attorney (at the time) and told him, he had his paralegal send a letter. Within that year, the only time I got creditor calls (very rarely) was when the accounts were "transfered" to collection agencies, then I would just give my attorney info again

            Good Luck!
