I am gradually stopping paying my CCs. 1 month behind on three of them, and now it's time to let my oldest one, Chase go... 10+ years of a perfect history... still painful. Anyway, I am somewhat concerned because it is an only card that had my DH as an authorized user (I believe that's how it's called). He has never ever used it, never even activated his cards. We are separated for 3 years. The card carries about 9K a balance, the rest of an old balance transfer with a low rate "for life".
When I first started thinking about BK, back in January, I called Chase and said that I want to remove my ex to be on the safe side, just had forgotten to do it sooner, blablabla. They said No problem, we will assign you a new account number and close the old one. So they did sent me a new card with a new number.
In my last Credit Report (April) the account is listed as an individual one and with the new number. The old number is not mentioned anywhere.
My question is can they still go after my ex? I think, it's unlikely? But what are chances that this card still shows in HIS credit report and consequently will show BK?
Should I wait and pay the card a bit longer while trying to find out what his current Credit report says (not easy)?
What wise people here think?
Thank you!
