    rental property question

I guess I could just ask my lawyer this, but what the heck...

We are surrendering a rental property - no one has been living there for about 8 months. I got a call from the city "code enforcement" lady today, saying that a neighbor called and complained that the lawn wasn't mowed. I told her that we are filing BK and it will be going back to the bank. She said that even after BK, the house is still yours and you still have to mow the grass. I said "OK" and that was the end of it. I think she's full of something.

At what point does the deed to the house actually get transferred back to the bank? Is it at the end of the 60 days? How does that work?

Our 341 is tomorrow, btw. Kinda nervous...just wanna get it over with. I'm especially not looking forward to the place it's going to be held - the hotel I used to WORK in. I totally hope that no one recognizes me. Maybe I should wear those glasses with the nose & mustache attached.

The rental property has not been foreclosed on after 8 months?? If so, just let them know it has been taken back by the bank. If not, then I would let your attorney know as any fee/fines they impose may need to be added to your BK.

If the house is still in your name on the deed, you might want to go over and mow the lawn.

Might save you a big headache with a possible fine and code violation.

Pretty easy fix and probably worth the effort.
