    your name on parent's accounts?

    dear all,

i am wondering whether anybody out there had their names on a parent's accounts (the money in the accounts belonging solely to the parent) and how that was handled in the bk forms?

    thanks a bunch!

If your name is on a parents bank account/savings account, etc, the only way it is safe from bankruptcy proceedings is that it states "payable upon death only" on the account. If you can write checks, withdraw funds, you are a co-owner of that account. The trustee can take half of it under these circumstances.
Hope this helps answer your question...

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.
