Is communication with a retained attorney expected?

I have a question for an attorney I retained for my chapter 7 when I file at the end of the year.
3 attempts with no return calls.
Should I run from this clown or is this just how they make you feel comfortable with the situation?

Seriously he was supposed to take over a collections case from another attorney, I have questions about it.

The attorney who originally had/has the case called me back today.

Is it just one of those everyday things thats no big deal to them, they don't call because it's not important or what?
I can understand that because everything seems important to me at this point, one phone call would be nice.
The person answering the phone said he'd call, I didn't leave any messages or anything.

I communicate with my attorney via email. Maybe try that if you have his address?

How much turnaround time are you giving him? I'd say if you call and there isn't a return call within 3-5 business days, then you can voice your problem with that to the attorney.

You should leave somewhat of a detailed message when you call so the attorney at least has some idea of why you are calling. Otherwise, the call typically goes on the bottom of the priority list.

But as teacher points out, given that your case isn't even going to be filed until the end of the year, 3 business days is reasonable. But if he doesn't respond, I would be more aggressive.

I tried email, and phone. Talked to a live person who said he'd call back today.
I think he was planning to take the case from the other attorney and rescind the settlement and let the BK get rid of it instead of paying a 1/3 settlement.

Maybe he has no information to report yet?

Funny thing is, the attorney who was/is handling the collections case, they said he'd call me tomorrow but called back today. He doesn't do bankruptcy cases btw.

I'm getting kind of PO'd with this. Theres one of the best BK attorneys 10 minutes from my house. I never had a formal consultation with this guy, just twice I walked in there and caught him not busy and he basically consulted me.
