Do any of you know how soon your credit score changes post filing, whether up or down? Do you wait until you're discharged to check your credit or does it matter? I expect to be discharged @ the end of this month. My 341 was on 4/27 (or 28~I don't have the paperwork in front of me).

I don't know what my score was immediately before filing, but my TU stayed the same as it was in Nov. 07 after filing. Three months later is has gone down 61 pts. My other two scores have gone up since Nov. 07. I do quarterly monitoring with TU so I will find out at the end of the month if the score has jumped again. Now that I don't owe any money except student loans, the only "bad" area on my report is the "Payment History". The other areas are listed as Good or Very Good (amount of debt, length of credit history, amount of new credit). I think part of the reason the scores tanked was because my student loans were showing up as IIB. I have a large amount of student loans and have never defaulted or been late. But on my other reports they are now reporting as positive so I'm hoping that TU will switch them back when I get my next credit report.
I have a lot of collections and charge offs on my report. Since I filed, some of the collections are falling off without disputing. A few items aren't showing up as IIB so I'm working on getting those corrected.
I am working on cleaning up my reports and then at the end of the year I will start trying to obtain new credit because I want to buy a house in Summer 2011. Here is where I am so far:
Transunion FICO: 11-20-07 / 531 - 3-29-09 / 470 (Down 61)
Equifax FICO: 11-20-07 / 457 - 5-27-09 / 592 (Up 135)
Experian: 11-20-07 / 464 (FICO) - 5-27-09 / 607 (Vantage) (Up 143)
I realize that the Vantage score isn't a "true" score, but Experian no longer makes their scores available except to lenders.Filed Ch. 7 Pro Se: 12/11/08
341 Meeting: 1/7/09
Trustee's Report of No Distribution: 1/9/09
Discharged: 3/10/09
