I received my discharge on 07/10/2008 and believe it or not I'm still waiting for my case to close. I've received the letter stating who the disbursements from the Trustee will go to, but still no "official" letter saying my case is closed.

Pretty soon It'll be an entire year (actually it's been more than a year since I filed). The funny thing is, the liquidated assets I had are all going to one creditor and the Trustee takes the rest. I still owe non-dischargeable taxes so I'm just ready to deal with the IRS and get it over with as opposed to having it drag on and on.

NOPE - I think I still hold "the title" - my case was not closed for approx 1200 days (3 years plus). I filed in June of 04 and my case was not closed until around April of 08.
What counts is that you have been "discharged". The rest is just "paperwork" and tying up loose ends for the Trustee.
The Trustee will keep your account open until he disburses all funds and writes up his final reports for the court.
My Trustee had property to sell, etc. So he didn't get in ANY HURRY...... and if there is a large amount of cases that have been filed, they really take their time with final reports.
So don't sweat it, (I know that's hard, I felt the same way you do)..... but basically you have been THRU and OVER wih your case since your "discharge".
Normally your "closed letter" will come within 30 to 90 days after discharge if there is not a lot involved in your case.

Oh my gosh, if I had to wait a year or 3 years to close, I would be going out of my mind! I can't believe you're still waiting, southern! I hope you're doing well, BTW!

WOW Minnie, that's definitely a record I hope I don't beat! LOL It's actually not as bad as it seems because my case being open holds off the IRS and gives me time to prepare with how to deal with them. I guess I'll just have to be patient.
