    I feel relieved...

Its like a big weight is off me. Met with our lawyer today who seemed really great and knowledgable and had been working a lot with the trustee lately. We will be filing on June 8th. He didn't see any big problems with anything I told him. He mentioned something about my HSA account will have to be listed differently so I can keep it. We've been renting from my friend for 700 a month and paying for someone else to live in our home (rent didn't cover the full mortgage) so he actually told us to go out and get a nice rental... the more expensive the better... lol.

He told us to spend wisely and he said I could even pay off my vet bill if I wanted to. He is even picking up the cost of me taking the debt class.

He also said that the trustee is aware and a bit forgiving of the high cost of living in Northern VA and is a bit sympathetic to that. So, that was nice.

It feels incredibly strange to not be paying my bills but very good at the same time. I just hope everything goes smoothly and I don't have a lot of objections.

My renters should be happy... they get to live in my house for free for a while. He said I could accept their rent payment on June 1st since I'm not filing till the 8th but after that I have to let him get a free ride. I'm just really happy to get out from under my housing sink hole. It will be a huge relief.

    Anyways... my journey begins now.

Thats great, you sound happy, confident and hopeful that is what a fresh start is all about. It is a weird feeling to stop paying your bills, scared but free! Hopefully it will be all up hill from here!

Thanks... I kinda feel guilty almost because I read other people's posts about not being able to afford living even after they filed bankruptcy. But I felt that way for the last six months being unemployed and living on my credit cards. We have been renting a room from my friend because I couldn't afford all my bills, rent and paying half of my mortgage... now that I'm not paying any of my bills my lawyer told us to go out and rent ourselves a nice place and the more expensive the better... lol. I guess he wants to eat up a lot of my disposable income.

I will give you a pm bkinva!

Another Northern Virginian... perhaps we should start a NOVA Chapter 7 thread and keep up with each other's progress there. I have also been pm'ing BKinVA as well. Its a stressful and confusing process so always good to have someone to chat with.

NOVA eh ?? I hear horror stories about the housing market there due to the banks loaning money to Ilegal Aliens from south of the border, and defaulting on the loans. Any truth to that ??

LOL @ selling illegal aliens property... I have never heard of that before and not sure how exactly you would be able to aquire a loan without a social security number...but who knows. The housing market is horrible here however I don't think its from what you said.

Its one of the top 5 most expensive places to live in the country and all the realestate here kept getting super inflated. Now everything is a mess. 2 Years ago you could barely buy a tiny condo here for like 250k-300k ... now you can get houses for less.
