    Student Loans Reported As Discharged

Ok, so I don't know if I should get really excited or not but I checked my credit report tonight (we were discharged 5/12/09) and under negative items it listed my privately funded signature student loans as discharged/account closed. Under my accounts in good standing it listed my federal loans with the US Dept of Ed as in deferment (which they are). Does this mean that those signature loans are really discharged? I fear calling anyone to ask anything because I don't want to "rock the boat." Any input would be great because I fuly expected to still be on the hook for these loans but if I am not, I won't complain.

This has been brought up before. Use the search engine and you may get some more in site. The Credit Report is not a legal document. They will do this as the loan has been legally discharged but not as far as the legal obligation to pay on it. No student loans as in IRS tax is discharged. If you do fall through the cracks, great for you. Ask your lawyer, he is not allowed to tell on you as per law and his ethics oath. I hope you are correct, but I doubt it. 'Hub

It will probably take a month or two, but those accounts will be moved back to the "positive" section and the IIB status will be removed. At least that is how it happened with my student loans. I have federal loans (Stafford) and a 2 small private loans.
