    No Taxes Filed

    Hey,

I owe about 35,000 in card debt and am planning my chapter 7. I have been self employed the last few years trying to make ends meet but have failed. I'm at a dead end and have no other options.

I have not filed for taxes the last several years. I need to know what I need to do. I'm really nervous and scared. I don't know that any of those years I made enough to actually owe any taxes to the Federal Gov't.

Can anybody please help me? I don't know what to do! Thanks.

I would do a search, but the search function isn't working for me at the moment. Says a problem with the server resolving with the string verification.

I would say the first thing to do would be to get those taxes filed. If you can do it yourself there are online web sites that do back taxes. Otherwise if you need help you can maybe find a CPA or if you can't afford it, a low income resource where you live that can help you.

I believe you will be required to take care of the taxes before your case can be finalized.

Tax years in the last 3 anyway. I am uncertain how they would handle any prior to that.

Since you have been self-employed this could be a gargantuan task, and I wish you luck. Hopefully you can get em done and with some degree of accuracy, since past expenses (and receipts) could prove vital.

I mean, I made like no money. I don't know what to do.

And I don't know how I'm going to prove anything. I've been pretty much a mess since I got out of college. I've basically just been off the grid doing what I could to get by, but always coming up with ideas for the next great thing that never came to fruition.

I played poker professionally, sold things on ebay, freelance writing. I don't think I made more than 15k any of those years. Is this still going to make things very difficult?

I think you will have to get the taxes done. I was asked for the last two years of tax returns plus had to show I filed for 2008 taxes.

Can someone please give me a link to some sort of income tax forum similar to this one that can tell me what to do about my tax situation? Thank you.
