Stafford Loan while in Chapter 7 BK???

Hi,

My company recently capped my tuition reimbursement so I now need to find other ways to pay for school.

The Financial Aid office told me about Stafford Loans. I am in my 7th course as a MBA graduate student and filed for Chapter 7 BK about 2 months ago.

I filled out a FASFA online, and an online application with the school. I'm looking to get an unsubsidized Stafford loan w/ a fixed interest rate. I have never defaulted on any student loan in the past.

:Will it go through? My BK discharge should go through in the next month or two I hope.

You should be fine. I filed Ch. 7 (the first time) while in law school and it never affected my Stafford loans. They don't check your credit. Private loans are a different matter, though I was able to get a bar study loan a few years after my BK discharge with a cosigner.

stafford loans are not based on credit- you should be fine for getting one.

I was approved for my MBA student loans appx 30 days after filing, so you should be good!
