Amazing how fast the calls stop

Well I should be filed today. My attorney told me Friday when I signed papers that it would be filed today and I would get papers later this week.

I am assuming it will tell me when my 341 meeting is. He was preparing me for the 341 while I was signing. Asking me questions just like the Trustee will.

So today I started answering the phone again and told them BK was being filed today. Gave them attorney name and number and the calls are stopping already.

Now to get through the rest of this.
    Filed 5/11/09 Chapter 7
    341 Meeting 6/5/09
    Discharged 8/5/09
    Case Closed 8/6/09

Yes, there were a lot of calls for a couple weeks, then nothing. I like the silence. Just crossing my fingers that it all goes smoothly.

I never thought I would be the person that doesn't answer my phone because it was a bill collector yet that's what I did. I filed and then answered calls for about a week. The collectors stopped very quickly.

I still don't answer the phone because of that habit.

Once your attorney files you, I understand that the creditors should get the notice within 5 days of the filing but it is also electronic so they should get something e-filed to them immediately. Your stay goes into effect the day the attorney filing. That should stop the calling.

For me, I only got calls from one of my creditors who seemed to be ignoring the stay - since my bills were due right around the time I filed (first time not paid) I never got any calls from two of my creditors. Citibank (being the crappy bank they are) ignored the stay and started calling me. But once I decided to pick up the phone that told them that I was declaring BK - they just wanted my lawyers name and phone number and they put me on the no call list. So far, they are being obedient and not calling.

So, no calls for me anymore.
