At first I was certain that the mail from Military Star (Exchange Credit Program) was a cancellation notice.

Upon opening, however, I was greeted with the following:

" Congratulations! Your credit limit on you military star card account has been increased. Your new credit limit is $3,100, your new balance is $.00, and your available credit is $3,100.00.

Thank you for being a loyal military star customer and we hope you continue to enjoy shopping at your local exchange."

We also received a pre-approved offer for a shell gas card today.

I guess it takes a while for the bk news to spread?

They were both probably prepared and mailed before you filed or before they got notice of it. In some cases it takes a month to hit your credit score.
