Negotiate With 2nd Mortgage?

Has anyone had any success with negotiating down a second mortgage under the threat of a chapter 13 lien strip? My 2nd is totally unsecured but I would much rather file chapter 7 and deal deal with my secured (tax) debt outside of bk. Any thoughts?

Are you talking about doing it while in chapter 7? I am looking at chapter 7 and combined my first and second are more than my house is worth, but the the second is about 3/4 covered, so i am not as underwater as some.

I am meeting with a lawyer for first time tomorrow.

I plan on keeping the house and i would love to do some thing with the HELOC, but i am not sure i can expect to keep paying it.

I would appreciate any thoughts.
