Can anything be done about it. Or am I stuck with it until I either file, or retain a lawyer?

Yes something can be done. Answer the phone and talk to your creditors. If they can't locate you, they will hunt you down, and they can do this!
The other way is to send them a cease and desist letter. However, this doesn't seem to work with original creditors (like your Bank). Your mileage may vary.
The key is... you need to communicate with them one way or another.Chapter 7 (No Asset/Non-Consumer) Filed (Pro Se) 7/08 (converted from Chapter 13 - 2/10)

Our calls went from daily to about weekly after telling them I couldn't pay. Once I retained the atty, I was able to pass that info on when they called and I have yet to receive another call from anyone who I've informed of the BK and the atty's info.filed chapter 7 BK 4/27/09

You are bringing back some very bad memories for me ;) When I did answer the phone, they were very pushy and rude. I eventually stopped answering and they kept calling me and also started calling my family members.
Since I was going through a divorce at the time, I blamed the phone calls on my x-wife ;)
