Hi John,
This was too long for private messages. Hopefully you'll find it here.
I'm finally putting it all together today.
...filing early next week.
I am certainly neither an "expert" nor an advisor in this process! I can only say that I have become
considerably less daunted (and probably somewhat
numbed and bored) by what, at the outset, appeared
to be a very confusing and ponderous undertaking.
I've devoted many hours to reading, and rereading, all the required forms and available instructions.
I know of no other means by which to familiarize
oneself with, and, ultimately get a real sense of the
continuity of, the myriad forms and schedules.
I was much encouraged by someone's post that explained that the whole process is fundamentally
technical, and not "personal" or emotional.
With that in mind, I determined that my best course
would be to devote all the time required to ensure
that all the forms and schedules were complete, and
honest...What more can you do?
Based on what I've read, it seems unwise to assume an attorney would do the same.
I'm sure you've discovered that the CA System 2
exemptions (with wildcard) can save a whole lot of
your "stuff"...saved all of mine.
There's also a website that offers certificates for the
"pre-counseling" free to California filers.
[url removed by admins] That's about all I've got for now...nothing more that
could be achieved on the phone, really.
I'll see how it goes, but I'm cautiously optimistic.
Best wishes, and Best Of Luck To You!!!
