My excitement over finding the right attorney

I just wanted to share. My husband and I have met or spoken with upwards of 10 attorneys. I have done a lot of research, read almost every type of book from my library and read many posts on here and you guys have gave me CORRECT info so I knew a lot of answers to my questions. We "tested" some lawyers on some situations and they gave the wrong answer. About HALF of them gave wrong answers.
We started to think that maybe I had been wrong ect until we found a handful of knowledgeable attorneys who didn't have to think before answering the question. The lady we found seemed very experienced in bk (there is a difference between quantity or quality), had a great sense of humor, made us feel like real people instead of another debt-ridden client. She spent about 20 minutes talking to my husband on the phone because he had questions. Never did she try to get him off the phone or say that we can talk about it in our meeting ect.. she personally picked up the phone when her paralegal didn't know how to answer us. We weren't even her clients yet nor had we talked money- I was truly impressed.
This comes after my meeting with another attorney who didn't know what we qualified for (she flip-flopped back and forth saying we did qualify then we didn't then we did ect..) and who had answered 2 personal calls during our meeting- yes it was a free cosult but I still expect good service.

Anyway, the trying question for these lawyers was this: If we are claiming our house in bk, giving it back to the bank and walking away, can we still claim a wildcard exemption? The statues of my state say you can not if you are surrendering the house and we finally got this set in stone for our situation. That makes life easier to know...

I just hope she is as good as I think!

That is great! Glad you found some you like!

I didn't have to go "attorney shopping" myself. I just used a recommendation from my bf's attorney friend so that made it easy. But I have never dealt with a lawyer before this so I guess I don't have anything to compare it too but he is going a great job so far. He is more "business" like than personable but that is Ok with me. I just want someone to get it done right since I know zilch about the law. So, I guess I got lucky as I had no stress of picking someone out.

Congrats! You have passed one of the major hurdles in the process and it will only get easier from here.

Yeah! I have recently been on the attorney merry go round myself and just yesterday found the one I like and retained him. It is such a good feeling and although I know I may have hurdles ahead of me yet, I feel so much better about things.
