When do you need bank statement?

Hello,

I was wondering if I will need to provide bank statements ? And if so to whom and when?

I just recently filed and am wondering about this. Thanks

Most of us had to supply bank statements to the attorney before filing - at least 6 months of statements. Many of us had to bring the statement showing our bank balance as of the filing date to the 341.

However, there are some districts that do not require the statements. What did your attorney say?

I filed pro se, and a bank statement is not required for filing. Your attorney may request it, though. After filing, I had to take with me my last 3 months bank statements which covered the day I filed.

Also, I was selected for audit. For this, I had to provide bank statements that covered the full 6 calendar months prior to the month of filing.

I also filed pro se so no attorney here. Was the audit random? It is not a big issue since there is little to no income due to unemployment and illness, but I was just wondering.

So you filed pro se? Where did you file and can you give me a timeline?

I was required to bring my bank statement showing the balance in the day that I filed. That is all. Southern Ohio-Dayton.

I gave 6 months of statements to my lawyer and need to send the past 3 months to the trustee PRIOR to my 341 meeting May 12. I am in FL.

We needed six months of bank statements for the lawyer. The trustee only required the month we filed our BK to show the amount in our accounts on the day we filed.

My attorney also asked for the 6 months of statements, though, like you, I had to bring only the statement showing the balance the day I filed to the 341. My attorney briefly looked through the other statements and gave them back to me. This was a one of my early meetings with him. The trustee never saw them. She looked only at the one I brought to the 341. Guess we're lucky here in Ohio!

I filed in Denver on 2/4/09. I was selected for audit really quickly and I knew about it within about a week. I think it was a random selection. I had my 341 on 3/11/09, and I'm axiously waiting for discharge.
