Checking equifax today - had a new alert stating that my Amex account (closed 2 days after filing Ch 7) was now in a new state - Discharged. My 341 isn't for 1.5 weeks. Is this normal? Almost seems like Amex just went ahead and closed out their end of things before I even had the creditors meeting. Anybody else have this experience?

Yes, Citibank did this to me 3 weeks before our 341 -- discharged/charged off a $21,000 balance (now reads charged off/paid as agreed/$0 balance). I thought it was kind of bizarre.
But I guess that means they're not fighting it, right, so that's good news? I don't think they'll be showing up at your 341...Filed Chapter 7: 3/12/09

In this case, AmEx's "discharged" notation actually means "charged off" which is different than a BK discharge. When an account is charged off you are still responsible for paying the balance; it doesn't release your obligation to the creditor. A creditor, by law, must charge off bad debt after 180 days of non-payment (and they can do so sooner if they wish) and, at that time, they usually sell it off to a collection agency who pursues the debt. Unfortunately, you are not off the hook for anything quite yet.CH7 Filed 2/26/2009 (no asset)

Doesn't matter really...
but I thought it was strange. Here's the exact wording from my credit report:
Account Status Changed from to Tradeline BK Discharged
Balance Amount Changed from N/A to $0
Just wondered if once they received my case number they just gave up?Chapter 7 filed 3/31/2009

Discharged! 7/9/2009

Once a creditor gets a notice of filing, they are supposed to mark the TL IIB or some other BK description, like CH 7 Bankruptcy filed, they kind of vary between creditors how they are marked.
Unless you are dismissed or the TL somehow is reaffirmed, the BK notation will stay.
They are just on top of it. Probably got an electronic notice from the BK court that you filed.
It doesn't mean it is discharged yet, but that the TL was included in your matrix/filing.
