Had my first consultation today

So I finally had my first consultation today, when I originally called to make an appointment they were booked til early June. Took a chance and called on Monday to see if they've had any cancellations and they were able to see me today. This firm is the only one I've found so far that is strictly bankruptcy...everyone else does everything and anything. I met with the lawyer and I got a good vibe from her. Thanks to this forum, I pretty much knew everything already, she didn't really tell me anything I hadn't already learned here.

She was a little concerned about the amount of my unsecured debt (110k) and said that might raise an eyebrow with the trustee, but once I told her that this has been an accumulation over the past 4-5 years she didn't seem to think it would be much of a problem. I also had a 10k cash advance that I did June 08. She also didn't think that would be a problem either since it has been a while but for my own peace of mind I plan on waiting til July to file...as long as I don't get sued first.

I have another consultation set up on Tuesday (which is another issue in itself, they've had to reschedule my consultation twice and didn't bother to call me either time so I drove all the way there only to be turned away) More than likely will not go with this lawyer as I already have a bad taste in my mouth from this, but just want to go just to see if she tells me anything different & just compare prices.

I had my consultation on Tuesday the 21st and even though I had some sort of 24 hour stomach bug, I managed to get my butt in there to meet with the lawyer because the firm I went to was booked until mid May. About an hour before my appointment, I thought about re-scheduling, but I am glad I didn't. Thankfully, I didn't get sick in the lawyers office. That would have been terrible.

Yeah, I have been sick too..but I did the same as you, made sure I went no matter what. I took a bunch of notes because I was kinda in la-la land and I probably would not have remembered anything she had told me lol

Had a couple more consults and I've decided to go with the original lawyer (the bk only firm) I finally met with the lawyer that kept flaking on me today. As soon as she saw me she swore she knew me, I have never seen this woman before in my life!! I deliver mail so at some point in time maybe I delivered her mail, who knows. She kept telling me that she has met me before. Not anytime in my life lol

I swung by the original lawyer and dropped off half of the fees...I have most of the money but thanks to those dang ATM limits I can't take more out til tomorrow. I have an appointment set up in 2 weeks to get the paperwork started. Now the fun begins...
