Great to hear you were able to get a new car, and a new debt. Reading news like this motivates me tons to go ahead and file. Not so I can go get a new car but so there is a chance to rebuild quickly.

I'm new here and I don't want to cause trouble, but I'm not sure why everybody is so happy about someone starting the debt cycle right after bankruptcy? A brand new car even at 0% interest has got to be in the $400/mnth amount. In 10 months you could buy a 4,000 car in cash. You'd have a decent car, and another 4 years of an extra $400 a month in cash that you wouldn't be spending on a payment. It's just me, but if and when we get pulled out from this crushing debt, I'm going to do everything in my power to never do it again. Again, I don't want to rain on anybody's parade, everyone has been so nice to me on here, but I guess I'm scared it will be too easy to get back in the place we're trying to get out of, and I want to remind myself how much I hate it.

Yep. Two things the lenders know about us: we can't file again for a long time and, we have a liking for credit.

I agree Bornagain. I like the idea of being debtfree. My sister and stepdaughter filed 2005 and both are in debt again, talking about paying off their cc's. I am like what cc's you filed bankruptcy. With in a month they both had cc again. Telling themselves it is to rebuild credit. BS to shop shop and shop. I am not getting in this rut again.

You know!! Some of us have no choice to be debt free. I mean if I want to be without a job then I can be. I need a new truck to pull my trailer for my business. So some of us can't buy a junk car to get us through. I wish I could.. I am going straight to ford in a week after we are discharged. There isn't much more I can do. I need a reliable truck to pull a trailer.... Congrats jessegirl! I hope I have luck like you did! I will be happy just to get approved!

Congrats Jesse. I know the crap you went through. I thought about trying to get financed but it would only be for an used vehicle.

Well, thats your opinion....... I got rid of a vehicle that was over 600.00 per month, so the payments that I have now are hundreds less..... Why should I buy a used car?????? I have no bills anymore, Just a mortgage and my hubbys car is used and we need a reliable car with a WARRANTY, otherwise i will be flushing tons of money into another car. I am not looking for anyones headaches. Also, we look at used cars for 4000.00 and that were rats....... I need something that is going to hold atleast 6 people and be able to put all my kids sporting equiptment in. Now we looked at used trucks, as a matter of fact we looked at a used explorer at 22K, it was a rat and a piece of COCKA!!!!and it didn't have a warranty....Also, ford and other car dealers would NOT and could not get an approval on a used car from any bank, except for the one bank that wanted 20K for the truck, 3000K for aquisition and 2800.00 down.... Hello, i am not anybodys fool........Also, that payment was higher then what I am paying now.....

Anyways, don't like to deal with negativity....THANKS TO EVERYONE ELSE...............

Oh just I do agree with you on one thing - I WILL Never get a credit card again.......NEVER EVER NEVER.............They are like the devil... Totally untrustworthy...They lure you in and then switch you up to an outragious rate that makes you default......My only debt will be a car loan.....I will always have a car loan...But Credit card Free I will be.....Not many people can say they are credit card free.

Dave Ramsey has some really great things to say for the benefit of people who believe this statement. He actually quotes you exactly, Jesse, about 15 seconds into the video.

                        See it here:

                        Drive Free/Retire Rich

It's dated by the return that's assumed for the growth of the fund, so the 'Retire Rich' portion is not as rosy as portrayed, but the principle about escaping mindless slavery to auto loans is no less valid.

It never came up, that is the video... BUT, not sure where you are going with this, or if you are being a crepe hanger.... I do not recall asking you for a loan. You have no idea what our salary is. Maybe we have alot of money now that we are discharged. So I guess you will never have a car loan, go on vacation etc.....I am discharged and have no credit cards........ So if your comments are going to be rude, save it for yourself........ I'm am not looking for negative feedback. I was just letting some of my FRIENDS on here, know what I got and also for the people that think after its over, its all bad news.....My freiends on this forum know all the shit i went thru. Not sure if you are looking for a fight or what with your comments.....

Good grief! I haven't read anything that's hostile or unfriendly -- everyone's here to help & receive help. Not everyone holds the same beliefs & outlook though, and it's assumed that folks don't carry chips on their shoulder and get all upset over reading alternative perspectives. Sheesh.

                            Good luck to you Jesse.

Edited to add: PS. I know what a crepe is -- they're delicious. But what's a crepe hanger? Must be regional differences in expressions. I'm assuming it's nice and that you're not throwing insults.

                            Best.

                            a morbid or death-obsessed person

Okay Jesse, you are being insulting. Okay, well you just make sure that nothing "hostile and negative" gets posted like the viewpoints cantwait and I posted. You know, the really mean, rude stuff like we write. I think someone's projecting.

                            Goodbye.

I am waiting on my 341, the only debt I'm going to "reaffirm" (thought it legally will not be signed because of the appeals court) is for my new car. I bought it last year. My old car was paid off, but had about 170,000 miles on it, was 9 years old and was going to start costing me. Knowing I'd be filing, I was concerned I would not have credit for the car repairs coming along. I would not have good credit to get a low interest replacement car loan. I have had spells with no car payment...so I know what that's like, but as long as I only have living expenses, I don't mind a car payment. I need reliable transportation, and big enough to fit the 5 of us. I also will not mind one day having a mortgage. Maybe in a couple of years we can look into that once I get some time behind me from the bnkrtcy.
Good luck to everyone here. I think the bottom line is we need the ability to get what we need (roof, transportion, medical, food, clothing), and filing helps us do that moving forward.
