Technically no. It say "We'll always have a car payment".

No it's not. Some folks don't drive their cars into the ground either. Buying something 'collectable' and maintaining it, may not have the same value in 10 years as stashing cash in mattress. But it's a bunch more fun.

Sometimes when you need a "reliable" car you have no choice but to get into debt.

But this assumes I can wait 10 months....most people can't wait 10 months for transportation.

I agree to a point but the goal should be to have a reliable car without car payments.

Dave Ramsey also disagrees with bankruptcy! While I agree that "jumping" back into the "debt cycle" can be BAD sometimes its necessary....

I don't think Cantwait or BornAgain were being negative but just reminding us what got us here. I think we'd all like to live on cash but sometimes that not reality. Your last point about all the "sh*t" you've gone was peculiar? Did you mean past experience will prevent you from repeating the debt cycle? It came across like a sense of entitlement?

I agree but I will probably get a CC. Only you know if you have learned and will repeat past mistakes. Hopefully, I won't be here again.

Totally untrustworthy...They lure you in and then switch you up to an outragious rate that makes you default......My only debt will be a car loan.....I will always have a car loan...But Credit card Free I will be.....Not many people can say they are credit card free.
I am happy that your situation worked out and that you got a loan, but if you think an outrageous rate "made" you default, you are in severe denial.

Your belligerence is evident in a lot of your posts. Act as you may, but you are hostile both in situations and with people.

I was rooting for your discharge the entire time, but must say, your treatment of the above posters when they were just voicing their opinon, is astounding.

Just be glad you didn't post a link to Dave Ramsey! [wink]

              Best to you.

I was not being mean at all. You are the one that blow up my comment in high letters and tried to make fun of me.

I have been through hell and back with this bankruptcy. I am sure ALOT of people will continue to have car loans. Maybe not you, but if you read all the comments left on my thread you will see that most are going for another new car. Oh well sorry that this blew up th way it did.......

              Have a great day.....

I guess its ok to voice there opinions but I cannot say anything. You of all people have been rude to ALOT of people on here. Stop being a bully. I have a right to say my opnion just like everyone else. I do not have to agree with people just like they do not have to agree with me....

This will be my last comment on this matter.

I have to agree with Bornagain. If you think you need to get a loan for a car because a beater is not acceptable, then do what you must. But I sure as heck would not be celebrating getting right back into debt. I am using my bankruptcy as a wonderful opportunity to simplify my life and get rid of material things that don't matter. Driving a 4k or less car is a punch to the ego. Your defensiveness is your ego speaking.

This is my point.... Jessegirl gave me hope that I can still run my business. My Jeep we were 18k in the hole. To me a truck is not material, I need it to pay my bills and feed my kids. And if I can get a new truck at 0% I am going to do it. ( we also have the family A plan for Ford) Do I want to? No, but I won't be able to get a loan for a used one and it's all a tax write off anyhow. If I could even get a cheap new car I would but a car can't pull a 3800 pound trailer!

Congrats! I'm hoping we can something similar. Our suv was repoed and now there is 6 of us including an infant and two toddlers so we're carseat crazy and we squeeze into a small car for now. And I even have to leave my husband behind for some family functions just so I can get everyone there in a seatbelt and then go back to get him and this takes 3 hours! Yikes. I'm hoping we can get a reasonable loan as well cuz like you we were also in a $700 pymt and now just for a pymt from $300-400. I'm happy for you. =)

                          I think

That it is a personal decision on what to get for a car, I also think Ramsey(whi is a former bankrupt) and made millions the second time around can easily tell people not to get loans. In the REAL world most of us will always need a mortgage. I can never see me being able to save to BUY a house outright. Now as for a car it is a gamble, you can spend a few thou and hope it is a good one and will not be too much of a money pit..50/50. if you do not drive too much or far then maybe it is worth a risk. I have learnt the hard way.... My hubby drives 3 hours a day for work and the beaters were costing way too much... we spent months at $500 plus a month on repairs!!! for a car worth 1000! he bought it for 4 k cash 3 years ago. we now after discharge got him a car with a warranty.... it costs us $180 a month in a car loan brand new 2009 car! cannot get better than that.

Also peoples situations are different..... some people earn good money and will not go back to the terrible debts od cc's and personal loans, (I never will). I believe a mortgage that is very low and a car loan is ok.. but each to their own, My hubby earns good money and that loan is very very ok for us

as for Jessegirl... I have NEVER...... head her being full of belligerence or acting hostile , I have only ever seen her getting upset with her situation and annoyed at that, so please no name calling.. and I think she went through enough!

My husband and i are waiting for our discharge. We have two paid for POS's. I love the fact that we don't have a car payment, but I hate the fact that at any given time one of them doesn't start, run right or??? Husband went to pick up son from school the other day, the jeep wouldn't start at the school. I took the truck to go and get him and when I got there the jeep started. Grrrrr!!! Very frustrating when my hubby drives 60 miles a day for work. He works at night if he breaks down I get to get the kids out of bed at night to go and get him. Both of our vehicles get less than 20mpg. Some months we spend up to $400 on car repairs, most months around $200 to keep an '89 and '91 running. I think our tranny in the jeep is going out and I am not replacing it. Have a little over a month before our discharge and I am going to buy a new vehicle. I also need a decent car to visit my father who is three hours away who has terminal cancer. It kills me not to see him much. So this is why I need a new vehicle.
