What money is up for grabs in the 7 months after discharge?

My husband's parents may be selling their company and if they do I know we will get a lump sum of money b/c my husband is on the board. Could this be a problem if it happens in the 7 months after my discharge? I am the only one filing, but would this be considered family income?

Also, a hypothetical question. Say I get some money from a family member dying or something similar in this period of time...does the trustee take the money and then I still have to live with a BK on my record? Somehow this doesn't seem fair...that I would be out the money, the creditors would be paid off, but I would still have to suffer the consequences of the bankruptcy. Just curious.

How would anyone know any of these things have happened , unless you called the trustee and asked him if it`s ok. I really don`t think anyone is actually watching your accounts after discharge. If I`m wrong , someone will pipe up .

You are asked at your 341 if you are expecting any money, whether inheritance, income tax refund, payout from a judgment, etc. within the next 180 days. And you are under oath to tell the truth.

Now, if you were not aware of the in-laws plans to sell the company at your 341, then of course, you say 'no', because you DON'T know. Further, even if you DID know, you do not know whether the sale will go through or not.

We had that question at our 341. 'Hub's brother, a couple of years ago, had been given a life expectancy of 'no more than six months'. By the time we filed BK, the brother had outlived that prognosis by three times. So though 'Hub is on the brother's will, we said 'no'.

As of this writing, we are Discharged and Closed, and the brother is doing well and planning his third marriage for next May.

So, who can forsee the future?
