I am getting ready to file chapter 7 in florida. I am married but I am planning on only filing for myself. My wife's name is not on the mortgage. I had a credit card before I was married and once I was married I added my wife to it. I just called the bank two weeks ago to take my wife's name off of the account. Does anyone know if this will be a problem when I go to file? Will my wife have to file also? Thanks in advance.

Are you current on all your debts? I ask this because my ex-husband of 6 yrs. ago was still on one of my Credit Cards along with my new husband.
We thought his name had been removed in 2005, but Bank of America said they never received the form.
Our credit report was not in the best of shape and they denied the removable of his name. Knowing we were filing bankruptcy, my ex did not want to ruin his credit. He paid the CC off and I will start making payments to him after our Bankruptcy has beed closed.

I had added my daughter to an account as an authorized signer a few years ago. 6 months ago I took her off. We pulled her credit report last month and that card stopped reporting to her credit report 2 months after I asked for her to be removed.
Technically, an authorized user is not responsible for charges you made. I have read that they CC are notorious for going after signers even if they are not supposed to. If you can wait a few months to get her name out of the system, that may save you some credit report headaches later.

Some credit card issuers, such as Amex, issue the authorized user a card w/ a different account # on it and then somewhere in the fine print it reads that the auth user WILL be held legally responsible for any charges made w/ their individual acct #. So, depending on the creditor, sometimes authorized users are held responsible.Chapter 7 Filed: 12/22/08
341 Meeting: 1/22/09
Discharged and Closed: 3/24/09
