I recently sold about 800-900 worth of belongings on ebay to help towards food and the 300.00 filing fee. I currently have 400.00 in my account now and was thinking about filing this week or next. Is this going to be an issue? If I take the 300.00 filing fee out, that is still 600.00 i have made and would have had in my account 1-2 weeks pre-filing. If i withdraw it all will it be suspicious or should i leave it???? Thanks!

I want to file pro-se. I am no asset so don't think I need one. The calls have stopped (so i dont need them for that) and the questions i do have for an attorney, they wont answer for me. So...i was going to use the left over money for food, and some other household necessities. Am i not allowed to have any money when I file? I would like to save 100-200 just to start saving but do not know if it is allowed. I received your email Hub. Thank you. I wrote you back too.

From everything I've read, Florida can be good or bad. Basically, you need to exempt everything you can if you want to keep it. Each state has it's own bankruptcy exemptions. I recommend doing searches on here for Florida exemptions. It also depends a lot on whether you are exempting equity in a house or not. If you are not exempting equity, then you can get a $4000 wild card exemption that can apply to anything, including the amount in your bank account.
I'm not from FL, but a lot of people on this forum are, so you may want to include this with your questions to get the best answers.

Thanks so much Joe. Nope, do not have a house so I know I can use the 4k wildcard. So does this mean I could have 2k worth of personal property and 2k in cash? I mean I would prefer to do that if possible so I can start saving $$ as soon as I am discharged. In fact, I do not even think I have 1k worth of property if we use garage sale value on everything so that is good if I am able to get more $$ and exempt that. Thanks ;)
