what about overpaying car loan before BK?

I have two car loans that I got in Feb - can I pay extra on them in the next few months before filing?

About the loans - one was a lease buyout, the other a lease trade in for a different used car - so its not like i went out and bought new cars...(just thought I should get things squared away and locked into loans before our credit went down the toilet). I am worried - This is kinda close to my BK file date (planned for July)

The first payment for one loan isnt until May so I will have almost NO history of being current with them when i file (I do plan to be current for May and June pmts - which is all they will have to prove that I am a good customer)

Should I pay earlier than my first pmt is due?

I have lots of extra money laying around from not paying mortgage and maybe now missing cc min pmts.... is overpaying car considered preference?

If I continued paying CC min pmts AND paid more on the cars, then would it be legit?

Any help would be great, thanks
    waiting to file in july-august,
waiting for Chase to begin foreclosure,
waiting for cc's to begin lawsuits,
    just waiting (& "afraid")...

IF you are positive you are filing Bankruptcy, don't throw away your precious money on CC minimum payments.

Are you going to re-affirm your car loans? If so, I think (don't really know) you may get away with paying one month's extra loan on both cars, BUT I would check with your Attorney as you will have to provide the note on both cars.

Buy necessities. Stock up on staples (Groceries), Paper Towels, Toilet Paper, Kleenex (tissues) etc. If you have a freezer and it's not full, fill it up with Meat.

I haven't looked at all your posts as it is earlier evening and I'm tired. But are you planning on keeping your house? If so, any repairs need to be completed. Our privacy fence is falling down and we have two leaky faucets, so going to get those repaired.

Your cars? Need new tires? Have you kept up the Maintenance as provided by the Manufacturer in your Book? I have a 99 Toyota Sienna Van that has about 100,000 miles on it. I'm hoping to get at least another 5 yrs out of it as I only drive to medical related places...doctors', dentist, phsyical therapy etc. So I'm going to put new tires on it and have the 90,000 mile maintenance performed.

I did read one post where a Moderator said you are Over Thinking this Bankruptcy and I tend to agree with her. I did the same thing for several months after meeting with the Attorney in late Sept 08.

Plan your Bankruptcy and the more Paperwork you can provide the Trustee, the better. Attorney wants at least six months of receipts. I'm doing an Excel Spreadsheet for each month and attaching the receipts to it. There are a lot of them as my husband is an OTR Truck Driver and Gee, sometimes he can have 20 receipts for a week's worth of being on the road.

He buys the groceries because I'm disabled. I go through the grocery receipt and mark what he takes with him when he leaves as he usually will eat breakfast in the Truck and does a lot of snacking (fruit & low fat popcorn I microwave & put in gallon ziploc bags) while driving.
