what can we do they refuse to come get the car...

Hubby had a banger with USAA worth $700. He paid $90 a month on it and as of last month owed $700. it was IIB and not reafirmed. He called them to come get it as it has broken down again, they said they dont want it and wonr come get it but would not release a title... what can we do with it? how can they stick us with something we can not legaly get rid of? They had also been taking the money out of my account throughout the whole bankruptcy.. so i told them they had violated the stay and they are now sending me 5 months of $90 back! We were discharged early Feb, any idea of what we do with the car?

    Thanks B

Go to your division of motor vehicles (DMV) with the Bankruptcy Petition and Discharge Order. See if the DMV (or whatever they call it in your neck of the woods) will release the lien on the title.

It may help if you have something in writing from the lender that they don't want the vehicle.

Is USAA local to you? If so, push it, pull it or tow it to the branch and hand them the keys. Get paperwork from them showing you surrendered it to them.

Now that's what I call making them "eat steel".
