When I filed in 2001, I got a letter demanding that I return furniture. My lawyer advised me to do nothing, and nothing ever happened. It was just a scare tactic. They would probably lose money if they paid somebody to come get my furniture.
They asked if all the paperwork was correct and I read everything
They asked if I planned on keeping the car and continuing to make payments
They asked when I began and ended my second job and where it was
They asked about one loan I took in the Summer. The creditor put down much more then I took so I explained it
They asked where I work now
They asked aprox when I stopped selling my art and online things
Thanks for responding! That doesn't sound too painful (I know it's different for every person) I'm really glad it went so well for you and hope to have the same luck soon. My first appointment with my lawyer is tomorrow which has me nervously excited at the thought of actually seeing a light at the end of this tunnel I've been digging for the past 8 years. I'm sure the 341 will be all nerves, no excitement but I'm thinking of it as a dentist appointment, a short period of pain for a lifetime of relief
In terms of furniture and electronics, the stores aren't going to get a dime for your used stuff. It's not like Best Buy has a used electronics division and by the time a store pays to have someone come and get it, they'd be out money.
As someone else said, it's a scare tactic. If they send 1,000 letters to people filing and even 5 of those people come in a pay off their balances because they think it's the only way to keep their couch, they've made much more than the mailing costs.
And, as my attorney said, if they want to come and get my furniture, I'll make sure the cats start using it as a litter box. And, Best Buy, if you want my washer/dryer, beware of the Limburger cheese I'm going to dry first!
