How do you all handle this stress until you get things together?

I have worked literally all weekend on this and countless hours for several weeks now trying to get this all ready.

I am about to go nuts. Now granted I am dealing with a small business too and I have to constantly update that. But I wanted to get into the attroney in the next couple of weeks.

I have to get my taxes sent in, 1st quarter sales tax filed and sent and 1st quarter estimated taxes sent in.

I look at the numbers with business expenses and sales and start to panic and then I remember that my household expenses have to come off of that. Also my fuel useage is probably higher than most because of my business. I average 500-600 per month with fuel prices where they are now and when they were so high last year upwards of a 1000 a month.

Also I have my tax returns too that will verify all of this. I just need this too be over so I can relax and get on with life.

Did anyone else feel like this? Also if any of my creditors are going to file a judgement on me do I know about it before they get it?

Oh yes. Getting everything together before filing is usually very stressful because for many of us it's the first time in years and years we actually see the reality of our financial situation. Sobering doesn't begin to cover it. Scary? You bet. But there is light at the end of the tunnel. The goal is to keep the eye on the prize - filing with accurate financial figures.

Also if any of my creditors are going to file a judgement on me do I know about it before they get it?
I understand that your first "it" refers to the judgment and "they" refers to your creditors. What exactly do you mean by the second "it"?
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

What I meant to say was that if I am going to have a judgement filed against me, am I notified before the judgement is filed or does it just show up?

I have started one of the online pre BK counseling sessions. I guess this is one step closer. I figure if I work on this a little each day I should be pretty well wrapped up with everything for the attroney in a week or so.

I am just so tired of all the paperwork and my BF doesn't understand why I have to spend so much time on it.

Well... I spent a month doing his 8 years of back taxes so he could meet his deadline with the revenue agent. Then I had to catch up the business, then I had to get my taxes ready, now the BK, and keep up with the business paperwork.

I need a break so bad.

It's coming. Just keep pressing on. The end is near. Think of the little happy dance you are going to do when you turn it over to the lawyer. Not that you still won't stress about it or think of other things....but it is a nice feeling to know that it is in their capable hands!!

          Good luck.....

It just seems super worse because you are pressing up against all of the tax filings due, in addition to taking on your BF's stuff.

In a week, you will have it all wrapped up. If there is any additional needed for your 341, you will be notified well in advance. I'd keep all; of the things you copy for the attny handy just in case.

            Good luck.

I was super stressed out before filing. It is a very stressful process, you just have to try to keep your spirits up. Everything will work its self out. The stress for me continued up until my 341 meeting was over. That was the hardest part so far for me. It will get better.

You will know well in advance if you are going to have a judgment. The sheriff will serve you papers before that the hearing. If you do get a judgment before the BK it get wiped out also.

                  Yup - sure did.

As suggested, just take it one thing at a time, one day at a time.

Don't look at ALL that has to be done, just that one step, one little thing.

And every time you finish one thing you are that much closer to being finished.

Sounds like you need to turn on some soft, low music, grab a glass of wine and soak in a not tub for a while. - jb

I feel so stressed out. My lawyer filed on June 12th 09...341 July 20th. I read all these post and really...I mean really start to panick for real...I've had panick attacks! I'm not as in debt as a lot of these people. I have about 30,000.00 in cc and maybe 5000.00 in medical and the condo 77,000.00 and car 10,000.00 and NOT reaffirming on those. The amounts you mention are normal as are the debts. There's nothing unusual about what you've shared.

Filing bankruptcy is the best option to relieve crushing debt that has no other realistic chance of being paid. Back in the 1790s our founding fathers recognized this and included it in our Constitution. You are not alone - millions of people have done what you are doing and for the same reasons. Do your very best to find a way to see your situation less emotionally. It's your own unreasonable fear that's bringing you down - not the bk filing.

Given what you've told us, the chances of you having a problem with your case is about the same as a meteor hitting your house today. Worrying about something mysterious happening won't prevent it from happening. Look at YOUR case, not other cases here that have issues you don't have in your situation.

Remember that 95% of everyone that files Ch 7 has no issues and are discharged successfully. If your lawyer told you already that there is a potential for a problem, then you have a right to worry. If not, then move all that negative energy into something positive - making a better budget to live on after your discharge so you never end up here again. Hang in there - chances are everything will be fine.....really!
