    Need help finding some info

Well I got my tax done by my CPA this morning, came out just as I thought they would. Gross 15200, Taxable 5606. This is good.

Now my BK attroney, because of my small business wants me to have my fuel cost for the year. I told him I don't keep that information because I use mileage for my deduction not actual expenses. So he told me to talk to my CPA and figure out how to come up with this number.

So I talked to my CPA this morning and he said take total mileage and then figure how many MPG my truck gets and go from there.

This could be fairly easy to figure then since I have my monthly mileage, is there any website that would tell me what gas/diesel in my case prices have been in a particular state at a given time?

For instance if I knew that in IA in June 2008 the average price of diesel was 3.89 gal then I can take my June mileage divided by my mpg that would equal the number of gallons used and then I could multiply that by the cost per gallon. I can even get it closer by weekly or bi weekly figures if I have to but I need to find a way to find out past historical prices.

    Use an average.
Well, I did. Every one of 'em. Mostly I remember the last one. The wild finish. A guy standing on a station platform in the rain with a comical look in his face because his insides have been kicked out. -Rick

I still have to have someplace a way to determine that average. I can't just pull a number out of my head and say that this was the average diesel price for last year. I know at one point we were close if not over $4.75 a gallon.

Use what you think you were paying on June 30th then.

          Here ya go.

This might help, click on the state or region you need, it pulls up an excel file with dates from '97 until current.

This is what I am looking for but I am not seeing diesel on there unless it is described in a way that I don't understand. I will go back to the link and look again but this is exactly what I think I will need.

            Thanks

              Who's your buddy?

Click on the "data" buttons on the bottom to find more regions.

Though it isn't by state, it should give you a general guideline for pricing.

                I got it.

I found what I needed on that site. Thank-you!
