    waiting for discharge

    hello,

I have filed Chapter 7 in February 09, I had my 341 meeting on 3/5/09. Now I am in the 60 days waiting period.

at this time I am waiting to hear from the trustee about what portion of my tax return, if any I get to keep. I was wondering if I can save whatever money I get to keep for emergencies. The question that I have is, What happens to the money in my bank account at the time of discharge. After I took the credit counseling and mandatory educational courses, I adjusted few things in my budget and I seem to be able to save around 100$ a month. I'm sure that I will need this money as soon as my car breaks down or I see a doctor.

    So,
What money can I save and what really happens to money in my bank account?

    thank you

Yes you can save money after the filing date. Indeed it is a good idea. I started an emergency fund after filing, and it has been useful I must say these last 2 years. Most of the time it goes to car repairs . (Brake Lines went out about a month after I filed, fuel lines thereafter, waterpump, radiator, rear drum brakes, )
