    Notification to creditors

It is my understanding that the court assumes responsibility for notifying
all creditors listed on the debtor's matrix.
Is anyone aware of any requirement for the debtor to provide additional
    notification?

The Court will mail out notifications according to the creditor matrix. These can take a week or so to reach the creditor and thus generally violations of the first week are ignored by the courts. However if a creditor calls in that week all you need to do is give chapter filed, district filed, case number, lawyer name, contact name for lawyer. They are usually polite in taking this information and the smart ones don't violate anymore.

      Thanks JR,
The reason I sought to reconfirm this was that I've read numerous
posts from folks who have mailed notifications of filing to all their
creditors (in some cases, to every conceivable address), which
seems unnecessary. Perhaps these were situations in which they
were being driven to distraction by incessant phone calls (?)

In any event, regarding the "correct" addresses for the matrix,
I've read that the courts have preferred contact
addresses as provided by all the major players, B of A, Citi,
Discover, Chase, etc., and that, when required, these addresses
are substituted for comparatively "generic" addresses that may
      be listed on the matrix.

Generally they mail a notice to each address on creditor matrix. They probably do maintain a database of addresses and I'm sure someone crossreferences in various districts to eliminate typo errors etc. In fact most of the major banks/companies have access to PACER and receive electronic notices in addition to the mailings.

There is no real reason to mail the companies yourself as far as I know unless I suppose you want a return receipt that they did receive the notice.
