    I don't know if there is a policy here against posting links -- if so, sorry. But just to clarify, anyone who Googles "Prosper" will likely only see Prosper's own, self-serving, official site. Prosper actually ran its own forums for about two years, but increasingly censored any information useful to lenders. Then in November 2007, it poofed the entire forum without notice (since it interfered with Prosper's PR blitz about how great lending on Prosper was). A community member made an archive of the forum available, and Prosper had its lawyers send a frivolous nastygram seeking to take his site away. Once a First Amendment lawyer from Public Citizen got involved, Prosper gave up.

    For the truth about Prosper, someone can Google "Prosper forum" and look for the unaffiliated (i.e., not prosper.com) address that comes up high in the rankings.
