Mean lawyer

My lawyer has become mean since I have paid him in full. He did not call me to tell me when he filed and never returned emails about missing documents.

I finally got ahold of him and asked if he got my messages and email and he said" I get tons of calls and emails.. I cannot remember all of them". He then scolded me for calling several times about the missing documents. He says he is on top of it. Still nothing showing on Pacer and everything is due by the 20th. I sure hope he is on top of it!

It took me forever to come up with the money and he returned my calls up until he got his money.


I just hope he does not mess this up. I have no idea why he is being mean to me. This is hard enough to go through. He is supposed to be helping me right?

I have my creditors meeting 4/6/09. I am afraid to even call him again!!

anyone else go through this with a lawyer?

Oh man, I'm so sorry this is happening to you.. my first attorney gave me some bad advice that would of landed me in jail and wouldnt return my calls...I lost only 200.00 on that but Im so glad I got rid of that jerk...there are soooo many out there like him and unfortunately you just never know..
The man I will hire has been so gracious and has met with me twice already and wont take any money yet....He is soooo sweet I just hope he continues to be that way after I pay him. I really think he will be, but you just dont know...so sorry

No but then again I only called or emailed her when I was giving her information she asked for.
I got an email from her the day before the 341 saying she wanted to meet 15 Min before the meeting.

I feel so bad for you . . . ! I have consulted with at least 6 attorneys so far. One I paid in full and then lost confidence in him. I still have not made a commitment to another lawyer. I know how hard it is to find a real, live human being who is both competent and compassionate. Hang in there. Unfortunately, I have no advice to give, but perhaps someone else does. In the meantime, keep your chin up and hang around here for support.

We had the same problem with our attorney. He was sweet as pie when we went to the consulation and when we finally paid him in full. He was alot different, never returning phone calls, mistakes on the petition etc. I finally sent him an email and told him that if he didn not communicate with me and call me back and do his job, I was going to call the UST office and let them know. I told him to call me back by the end of the day. He called me back within 1/2 hour and has a great since then. They do not want to tangle with the UST at all. Try doing that. He works for you. You tell him what you wat him to do.

Been there, done that. I actually made a personal Motion to my Court to dismiss my lawyer and go pro se. It was a moot point and cost her money and time, lol, and was needless as I was actually through, but I did not know that. This was due to her.

My opinion, write a nice letter before your time limit. Explain in “nice” words that if he does not fulfill his obligation, you not only will fire him, but will file a complaint to his bar. (You can pick up a bar complaint online. Google your states bar, it will be there.) Let him know your observation as his demeanor changed after full payment and that would be mentioned upon your Bar complaint. ‘Hub

I am going to wait before filing a complaint. I am really stuck with this guy because I have no money for another lawyer.

I am just shocked that he treats me this way! It makes me feel worse about having to file chapter 7.

Thank god for this board! I just hope he did not give me bad advice.
