So. California Median Income level?

I have talked to an attorney and after i told my income and debt level he kept bringing up ch13. Can anyone give me a clue on whether i might qualify for ch7. my numbers are as follows:

Family of 5
income 59652 anually
49000 of unsecured debt

My sense is that you should be below the median but I don't know what it is for california. I know for 3 people in washington it's 69577 now (and by now, I mean in 2 days)

You qualify for a Chapter 7.

California median for a family of 5 is $6993/month and you are below that.

I'd check out another attorney for another consultation.

No, it depends on your state. In CA, for a family of 5, you can earn $83,914 per year.
