The ball is now rolling on Ch. 7

Just left the lawyer's offices, signed the papers, paid our money. Now we just need to fend off collection calls until he's officially filed.

I feel an odd sense of relief, worry and embarrassment.

We're over median income with high expenses, and will have child #5 coming in August....we went Ch. 7. He seems comfortable that he can defend a Ch. 7 with me being unemployed for 6 months, I really don't want to end up 13.

Everyone who prays, please say a prayer for a smooth process for us and I'll return the favor!

CAll your lawyer and see if they have a phone number for taking creditor calls.

At least you won't have to deal with that once you give them the phone #.

    Good news on your filing.

    Best of luck!

He said to either avoid them (which is my plan until the Stay, we don't really use our home phone for anything, everyone we know calls our cells.) or answer and tell them to call his office.

And thanks! This was really a "business decision". We were never going to get out from under the $90k+ debt so hopefully we can make a fresh start with smarter budgeting and spending going forward.

        Prayer and thought

My prayer and thought will be for all of us here. The storm will pass soon!

Don't beat yourself too much. What important is the future. What did we learn not to do from now on...

Well we finally got all the paperwork (draft petition and signature pages) from the Case Administrator. In reviewing it, we realized that if we wait until May 1 to file, $6k in earnings will drop from the six month review, bringing our average to $17k below the median salary and possibly making our Ch. 7 case much smoother! Confirmed with the CA, so we'll do our credit counseling asap then file May 1 and keep our fingers crossed.

Congrats! I also just signed my papers yesterday. I think my lawyer is waiting a few days to official file to clear out a last balance transfer or something.

I have been current on my payments so no calls yet for me. But bills will be due soon at end of this month so my first time not paying. I don't own a landline so everyone has my cell. My plan is that I am just going to turn the thing off esp. at night because I don't want them waking me up at 7:30 in the morning. I will turn it on and off and check a few times a day to see who called me. Ha ha!

I listed my cell as a creditors because I want to have the number turned off. I plan to get a pre-paid one. So, the phone number will get disconnected soon and they will have no where to call anymore. (there is a landline number where I live that isn't mine that I am going to use as my backup to give to people - not creditors - until I get my pre-paid so it is not like I will have no phone to use)

From what I hear, they often don't leave messages everytime they call. so maybe turn your ringer off or put on vibrate and screen too. You won't even notice they called after a while.

            Good Luck to you!
