    Confused

I live in california and i am close to filing. have met with an attorney not to long ago. my question is has any one had experiences with these consultations where the lawyer seems extremely non-involved with the interview?

I am really nervous and basically he acted as though nothing mattered. did not look at my docs and even suggested i pay my retainer with a credit card than wait a while to file?????

Has this happened to any but me?

    What did you do?

Personally, I would run like hell from that one. 'Hub

If I knew it all, would I be here?? Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.

Find another lawyer! There is too much on the line here for you to agree to be represented by someone who cannot or will not give you the time and attention you need. I have interviewed 6 or 7 lawyers now and think I have chosen one--but I'm still not 100% sure. Until you really do your homework about what this bankruptcy will entail and know the kinds of questions you need to ask, you are in a weak position to choose a good lawyer. I would suggest that you take a number of lawyers up on their offers of a free initial consultation and come armed with lots of questions. This is a big decision and I would really urge you to take your time and choose someone really, really good.

And you will have tons more. You need to have an attorney with whom you can communicate. Too many of them don't or won't.

            Good luck.

run as far as you can as fast as you can. If the lawyer is suggesting you pay him with a cc with no intention to repay. that is fraud then he will charge you more for the AP?
