    Timeframe for lawyer to file?

When I originally met with my lawyer, she said that once I had paid her in full, I should give her a week to complete the paperwork. Then she'd meet with me, I'd sign it and she would file my chapter 7. I paid the lawyer in full on February 20. It's now been 2 weeks and she said they'll have it ready NEXT week. (that's 2 weeks later than I had planned).

I planned the timing of my filing carefully because I didn't want to get collection calls all day long from my 8 credit card companies. I've never made late payments before. Now my creditors are starting to call me, even on my cell phone. It's causing me so much anxiety!

How long does it typically take a lawyer to file a case once they've been paid in full? Mine is simple-no assets. Only $22k in credit card debt.

Mine took about 2-3 weeks. When I originally met with them, they told us 2 weeks due to the volume of filers in their office. I would sent those creditors to your attorney by giving name and number. This may press them a bit especially since you have already paid her. We told all our creditors we were filing once we paid off the lawyer. All stopped calling within 2 days. Good luck to you.
