    Please be honest

I look your signature and i saw you all very happy after you filed and discharged. I am contemplating whether or not filing and this is so big i don't even want to know what happen afterward but..i have to so here is the question for you

Are you all honestly after you filed and discharged? Is bankruptcy ruined your life in anyway?

One more thing, is there a chance that your future job ( I will graduate soon and hope to fine a job in biotech company) is there any possible chance that will be discriminate against because of this? I know your credit score is ruined but what other possible damage could this bankruptcy filing do to you?

Please be honest as you can because i am very scared right now

My opinion...bankruptcy is a huge life event which will have an effect on one's life for years after filing but for most it is a necessity that needs to take place. Many get to that point with little or no fault of their own and others get there not being able to control credit card or other spending and just never learned how to handle money or credit. BK does not ruin one's life - your life is what you make it. It can have lasting effects after filing as it stays on your credit reports for 10 years after filing a Chapter 7 and 7 years after filing a Chapter 13. During that time, it can be difficult but not impossible to obtain credit and credit, when obtained, usually comes with many fees or a much higher interest rate. Some lenders just will not extend credit to anyone with a BK on their records.

As to employment, do a search in this forum on employment and bankruptcy. This subject has been extenstively discussed in here. Not too long ago I put an article in the BK Credit and News Forum discussing that subject.

In my Humble Opinion, especially in todays time, I would not let it effect you personally. Also, as fare as a job. It wont hurt you getting one

Mintz, I am not sure I agree with that.

SOME - mainly those on the right politically - take a dim view of anyone getting anything "free", which is how they view BK.

If one runs up against this type person as the one making the decision to hire or not, it can, indeed, be a problem.

On the bright side, BK is certainly not viewed in the same dim light as it use to be and, after this disastrous mess the economy is in with more and more forced to file every day, even this group of people are being affected.

It is amazing how ones view of others can change when you are in the same boat. - jb

My 341 meeting is in 3 weeks. I'm hoping to have this BK crap all over with soon. Am I happy? HELL YES! I'm tired of people calling me, I'm ready to give my house back to the bank and I'm ready to go on with my life with a fresh start. I'm ready to start saving some money and I just want to get on with my life. There is my honest opinion.

I should add too that I'm tired of wallowing in self pity about it.
