    Getting a bonus at work

    Hi all. I have a question I'm hoping someone can help with. I am getting a bonus at work in about a week and a half. I am suppose to file tomorrow. (chap7). Will my creditors take the bonus even if I get it AFTER i file?
    Any input would be helpful. ps...I'm in New York State.

      Your filing date is the snapshot in time of your finances. Unless the bonus is really large, it should have no bearing on your case.

        Are you planning to file Ch 7 or Ch 13?

        07/18/06 - Confirmation Hearing - not confirmed, 3 objections
        10/05/06 - Hearing to resolve 2 trustee objections
        01/24/07 - Judge dismisses mortgage company objection
        09/27/07 - Confirmed at last!
        06/10/11 - Trustee confirms all payments made
        08/10/11 - DISCHARGED !
        10/02/11 - CASE CLOSED
        Countdown: 60 months paid, 0 months to go

          If I knew it all, would I be here?? Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.

            I merged your two identical threads in two forum areas, HelpMe. It's against our forum rules to post the same question in more than one location.

            Since you posted your first question in the Ch 7 forum and the second one in General which was the one I responded to first, I merged the two threads into the Ch 7 forum area.

            Please ignore my earlier question about which chapter you intend to file - I assume now since I found your other thread in the Ch 7 forum area that you intend to file Ch 7
