Very good questions, I'm eagerly awaiting the response tothis one. I have some accounts that have been passed on to multiple collection agencys over the years. One visa card I have listed with 4 different collection agencies. It has been a royal pain going through and listing all the collections. If the original amount is discharged you'd think the collections people would be SOL.

You need to list the collection agencies as well. It's a little late now, but the NOLO book, "How to File a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy", explains all of this.

Tattered-any creditors listed on the petition are notified of the BK by the court. The debt is discharged regardless (assuming you list the original creditor). I guess the main benefit is peace of mind for the person filing... The sooner the collection agencies know about the BK, the sooner they stop calling.

I felt that was probably the reason for it... just thought it best to be sure. The bad thing (at least for me), I know I have some that have gone to collection agencies, but I don't have names, addresses, etc for all of them. Guess I'll just let them call and when they do... I'll ask them where I can send the payment, then send them the notice instead.
