I've just started to get offers. The same credit card that refused to lower my interest rate when I called months ago explaining that I was having a hard time make the payments.......Has just called with a 0% future interest rate offer as well as forgiving all of the late/overlimit fees.

Too little too late...I just gave my attorneys contact # and politely said goodnight, have a great day.

Three months ago I would have jumped at this, but it took the prospect of possible bankruptcy to finally get them to cave. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

Yep, they should all be offering us 5 cents on the dollar at this point! Oh wait, thats 9 grand for us... maybe 5 cents on the dollar payable over 18 months. I could maybe swing that.

I too am amazed at how this all works--it is absolutely no big surprise to me that the economy is going off the cliff. None of this makes any sense; how the CC companies, the car loan companies, etc., decide what to do is just a joke. I tried everything before I filed, just like the 'experts' say you're supposed to: contacted my creditors to tell them hard times were at hand and we needed to work something out. NOT ONE of them would do a thing until I actually got behind, and then it was only tiny bandaids. In the end, I haven't felt one bit bad over having filed.
