Used a credit card in last 30 days - will it be a problem?

My wife is on maternity leave and the state (CA) has been REALLY slow in sending her checks. The whole month of Feb. she received only 1/2 of what she was supposed to, because they were behind.

On top of this my income is down a bit at the moment (commissioned sales) so it has been a very tight month for us - i had to put groceries on a credit card last week.

if i file in mid-march (as starting in april/may my income usually goes up that time of year..it's the best time for me to file as mine and my wife's income are historically low, so to speak) will this pose a problem or create an objection, being so soon to the filing?

What you come across most often here, I've noticed, are very simplistic, short posts stating "Wait, wait, wait some more, wait until you're sued then wait some more because judgements just get vacated anyway. Oh, then wait a little longer."

Why one size fits all advice? Who knows -- not a lot of support gets included.

But if you do a search you can find some thoughtful, reasoned posts that include a lot more information to base a timing decision upon.

In my case I've got nothing fraudulent, no balance transfers, and no 'luxury' purchases on my cards in the last, well, way more than 90 days. But I will have some $25-ish charges just outside of 30 days. Oh my gosh -- I better wait! At least 90 days -- 1 year is better!!! ;-)

Best of luck to you. And congratulations on your pregnancy! :-)

You are fine, you bought groceries. Worst case scenario, the grocery purchase will have to be paid back, but I doubt the CC could prove that groceries are a luxury. Big Deal. File as planned.
